My Favorite Beauty Products

I am no expert on beauty supplies, check out eBeauty Daily for that, but I have made a list of some favorites that are both affordable and that I have good experiences with. Back when I was working I spent a lot of money on expencive make up, but later I’ve discovered that it’s usually not worth it. That’s good news for me now that I am a student and don’t have too much money to spear.

Max Factor Eyeshadow Earth Spirits

I use the Burnt Bark, and I have for years. It’s my favorite eyeshadow of all. It’s easy to apply and gives great color. Beats Chanel and any other brands I’ve tried.

Clinique Cleansing Foam (Anti-Blemish Solutions)

Ok, this is not that affordable, but the best cleanser I’ve come across. My skin feels and looks a lot better. It’s also very gentle to sensitive skin. Sometimes after washing my face at night in warm water, I apply the cleanser and leave it on over the night. This always leaves my skin ten times better the next day.

Body Shop Glow Enhancer

This one gives an incredible glow to the face. At first it looks very shiny, but after a few minutes you just get that glow. I have four or five of these as an emergency storage. I don’t care if the skin is supposed to be matte, I want to glow! I usually don’t use foundation, but I use this instead. It has less color than a foundation so it looks more natural.

Nivea Creme

No secret that this is a great product. Every girl should have one of these. During winter my skin gets very dry, then I use this daily. It’s a bit greasy though, so many girls should maybe use it as a facial mask in stead. It’s great to put on in a thick layer before you go to bed. You will have the softest skin when you wake up. It’s also good to mix with stuff you have in your kitchen to add more power to it.

Body Shop Eyeliner

I’ve tried many as I like a little dark eyes. Versace didn’t do it for me, but Body Shop’s is great.

H&M Nail Polish

I only use the french manicure one, so I won’t say for sure that the ones with colors are as good, but this nail polish is great and it costs just about nothing.

Burt’s Bees Repair Serum

I read about this several places and I got mine from Ebay for £ 0.99. I haven’t used it for long, so I don’t have many experiences with it yet. But it is supposed to be great for both fine lines and scars.

Body Shop Concealer

Often these have a little yellow tone that doesn’t work with my pale pink skin at all. The one from Body Shop was the first I found with the right color. The downside is that you have to buy this silly sharpener as well, so it leaves it a little more expencive than necessary. But with that said; I’ve had mine for three years and there’s still a lot left. I use it every day.

Body Shop Brushes

These are not made with real hair as is supposed to be the best, but they are still great. I usually use them wet since I have a thing for smokey eyes. What you never should be without is the line softner. I bought it nearly ten years ago, and I’ve used it every day. It is perfect for giving the eyeliner a litte softer look. And I find that I don’t have to be so careful with putting the eyeliner on right, cause the line softner fixes that anyway.

Dove Silkening Body Lotion

I don’t say that this is the best moisturing body lotion there is, but it has this shine that is so pretty. I always use it for parties, especially on my legs and arms. It doesn’t leave a very visble shine so that people see that you have covered your body in something, but you look a lot more fresh.

Body Shop Basil Purifying Mask

Simply just a great mask that really leaves my skin in great condition. So great people compliment me for it. I’ve had my jar for two years and used it twice a week and still I’ve used just about half of hit.

IsaDora Build-Up Extra Mascara

I always think mascaras end up crappy after a while no matter how much money I put in them. I’ve had this one for months though, and it is the first one that hasn’t gone lumpy or dry. Leaves my lashes looking great.

Rimmel Eyeshadows

I am a big fan of these, but mostly the trio ones. They last long and give great color.

Body Shop Hemp Products

I actually think these may have gone out of production, but if you get a hold of some of these they’re great for extra dry skin.

I have never concidered myself a big fan of Body Shop, but after making this list I maybe should be: Half the list is Body Shop! There are several of their products I don’t like though.

I’d love to hear your tips on good and affordable beauty supplies!

  3. Hey came by via Blog Share ~ great blog, i recently did some internet shopping from Beauty Of A Site and bought some Mascara called Kiss Me Mascara ~ it doesn’t run at all even in the shower. When it comes off it is sort of like a mask that you peel. First time i used it i thought it was strange but then i realized WOW no running down my face very cool. I will look into your Burt’s Bee’s stuff, thanks for the tip there.

    Cheers
    Suz

  4. I love Nivea Creme! I have always wanted to try that body shop glow enhancer, maybe I will! I like Proactive deep cleansing mask, Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipgloss and Cosme Decorte (a japanese brand) eyeshadow.

  5. I didn’t even know you could use Nivea Creme on your face! I have to get a tin - I’ve been using Roger & Gallet lately but I’m almost out (love it).

I love Rimmel (good brow pencils) and Maybelline was my favourite for blushes (until I got into MAC big time). Their peach trio blush is so good - beats NARS’ infamous Orgasm hands down.

The Body Shop Glow Enhancer sounds great and I might go track down this Burt’s Bees serum, will report back!

  6. Thanks for the great tips all of you! I am checking out many of these products. I realised I could buy make-up on Ebay, never really thought of it before, so now I’m testing that out. :)

  8. Style and Beauty Bytes!

I always really enjoy reading Agathe’s articles at Style Bytes, she has a great eye for couture (which is something I stay away from, because others do it so well) and she really appeals to the DIY’er in me. Yesterday she posted her favor…

  9. Thanks Christina! I feel honored that you found interest in my list of beauty products. After all you have much more experience in this area! :) Though years with little money has taught me to be selective.

  10. second the max factor eyeshadows - they are a real surprise, so long lasting and easy to work with, hands down the best of the economy ranges, and really give the high enders a run for their money. yay for max factor!!

  11. I’m glad you agree floatinglili! I haven’t tried many of the other Max Factor product, but I guess they have more great stuff I should try out.

  12. I third the Max Factor eyeshadows - great product.

Tarte cheek stain in Flush is the best blush I’ve found that still gets made… Revlon made a beautiful gel blush 5-6 years ago that remains the best I’ve ever used. The Tarte blush is expensive, but I got mine very inexpensively off Ebay and it lasts literally forever.

  13. Thanks S; I haven’t really ever come across a good blush, so I will try those. :)
