Broken Necklace Becomes New
I broke this plastic bead necklace that I bought at a flea market for a dollar, and I figured I’d make it a little nicer when putting it back together. So I bought some ribbon, and ended up with this:
I simply put the beads on the ribbon and tied a know between each. I always try to turn broken things into something new.

i love that necklace it is so in vogue lol
i have loads of necklaces that need to be re strung….thats gave me an idea….:)

Nice idea. The ribbon glams it very well, and adds a more feminine touch to it. I have a faux pearl necklace which isn’t very nice. Any suggestions on how I can re-do it? The “pearls” are quite tiny.

That is so pretty! Just a question, is it easy to string pearls on a ribbon? The beads need to have fairly big holes to do that easily, right? =/
Very nice. =)

Rachel: The holes on these beads aren’t very big, but I used the back of a needle to push it through. I guess the holes have to be a bit bigger than normal thogh. I have tried to find pearls with bigger holes new, but no luck. :/
Hmm… Ambiguous Wanderer, I can’t think of anything at the moment, except stuff I’ve posted about earlier, but you’ve maye seen that. I have a bunch of pearls lying around, so I might think of something new. :)
And thanks Lors! :D

I’ve got an idea for the pearls….you could make a jean dangly (like a bag dangly) using the pearls and some ribbon plus some cameo charms its a kewl and edgy take on the lady like style around this season without looking too prim n proper

That’s a great idea Lors! I love cameo as well as pearls and ribbons! Must have a look through my box of broken jewelry and see if I’ve got what I need… :)

Ooh..nice idea, Lors. Now what colour ribbon would go with those pearls? Maroon? I think a dark colour, but I’m not very good at colour combo. Any ideas? :)

Ps: Lors, Agathe,
I’ve a hectic schedule now too but I can’t help sneaking a bit of time to go online..
..and everytime, I am sure to feel guilty later.

yeah i always find time to go onto the internet…mostly cos i do alot of research on here lol….anyways a nice coulour scheme to go with pearls would be a purple velvet ribbon because that would also look good with the lady like look…purple is very in at the moment…..if not i would use a piece of tweed and a grosgrain ribbon in a pale pink :)

Hehe, I know how it’s like. I can’t help sitting in front of the computer once in a while no matter how busy I am!
You suggested lovely colors Lors! I feel like running to the store to buy some more stuff to create jewelry from. Pearls and purple velvet, and pearls and tweed… Both so perfect for fall!

I was just on craftster.org and I found a post by you Agathe that had a tutorial for a jean dangly like the one i’ve been talking about on here! lol how weird great minds craft alike lmao :) the only thing i would change about your one is having more ribbons dangling downwards anyways I’m loving your version

Hehe. I was planning on making a necklace, but I wasn’t happy with it, so it ended up like something totally else.
I was really inspired by your suggestions, and this time I’d like to use white pearls and some darker kind of ribbons. I think I might be able to sneak in some shopping-time today. :) I will be posting the old one one of these days, and if I’ll manage to get the new one done, I’ll credit you for it. :)

Lors,
Purple velvet and pearls does sound like a nice combination. I absolutely must go to the fabric store once I have the time for it.
