Anna Sui Necklace
When it’s getting darker and colder, and being outside isn’t so tempting anymore, it’s nice to have some in-door projects to work on. And what’s better than starting to prepare for spring? I have had a look through the spring collections so far, and I will here present some easy DIY projects that you can work on while it’s raining outside. First out is this gorgeous Anna Sui necklace.
The necklace is made with chains, this get’s a little complicated and expencive, so I bought some vaxed thread instead. They look good, you get them in all sorts of colors, and they’re easy to work with. I also bought some beads in different shapes and colors, I ended up using 42. And at last I bought a tassel.

I didn’t go for the exact same look. I didn’t find the stuff needed for that, but I have tried to keep the essence of it.
I started off with the tassel. It comes on a string, and this has to be cut off. I was lucky enough to have a broken necklace, and I used a part of the lock and glued it on. I had originally planned to just hang the curtain-thingy directly on the thread. You’ll probably find a good way to do this, or maybe you get a hold of a necklace lock like the one I used.

Then I started stringing the pearls. I started from the middle, and I decided to make the pearls look the same on each side of the string. I like symetry. You do what you like best. For each pearl I start with tying a knot where I wanted it. Then I put the pearl on, and made it stay put by tying a knot at the other side of the pearl. To make it look good you’ll need a needle to pull the knot tight into the pearl. By using a needle it’s easy to control where the knots ends up. Otherwise it can end up a little tricky.
Keep on stringing pearls like this until you have the lengt you want. At the end I tied the two ends together. This doesn’t look very proffesional, but it won’t show anyway. All of this took less than an hour to do. And all in all it cost me about $10. But Norway is expencive on just about everything, so I guess most of you will be able to make this for far less.

If something is unclair I think you’ll figure most of it out by looking at the pictures. Otherwise, just ask. I don’t think I’m that good at explaining… :)
If you liked this necklace you can also have a look at this. I’m about to make tutorials for them as well.
Those of you who aren’t fond of colors like pink and yellow can have a look at this necklace by Giorgio Armani:

This has given me some great ideas. I have loads of broken vintage jewelry sitting around!
