3rd hand

3rd hand is the concept of sewing secondhand clothes into brand new clothes. One by one, stores offering redesigned clothes, pop up. Since these clothes often end up a little pricier that regular secondhand clothes a smart idea is to steal ideas for what you can make your self. How often haven’t you found garments with the most adorable fabric, only to find out that it’s way too big or has stains that won’t come off? By thinking creative, a stained dress can become a gourgeus skirt, or a sweather with holes in it can become nice cuffs. The best thing is that garments with flaws are extra cheap.

I have taken a look at some designs, and here are 5 ideas of 3rd hand creations that you can easily make your self:

  1. Vintage bathrobes has perfect fabric for funny skirts.
  2. A mens shirt can be turned into something more special by removing the lower part of the arms and replacing it with arms/legs from a knitted sweater or sock.
  3. An old ubrella can be turned into a skirt by ripping the fabric of its shell.
  4. An old t-shirt can have fabric added on the bottom to turn it into a dress.
  5. Simply add ribbons, buttons and other details to plain garments to make it stand out more.

A few redesigning ideas deserve more attention, and I’ll post some of them with pictues later on.
