Russian Romantic

I’ve already mentioned that the romantic Russian style is one of my favourites this fall. For all of you finding this style as interesting as I do, I’ve gathered a little list of must-haves and photos for inspiration.

Fur Fur trims, fur hats, fur coats. You name it. The most important thing to get a hold of is probably the fur hat, it will instantly give you the right Russian look. They are a little expencve to buy new, but easy to find cheap at secondhand stores.

Big jewelry No skimping on the accessories. Let gold and pearls hang from your ears. For a cheap fix, secondhand stores are full of stuff like this. H&M will also get a few affordable ones.

Brocade It has to be glamourus. Invest in a brocade skirt or jacket with fur trims.

Velvet This heavy material is the perfect match for this dark, but glamourus look.

Dark colors It’s black, dark blue, deep purple…

Gold Even though the main colors are dark, let the accessories shine of gold.

Think big, dark, heavy, glamourus and bold. In addition to being gorgeous, this look is very practical for those cold and dark months we are heading towards. And if you don’t want to go all the way, mix it with other looks. The fur hat will for example look great with this seasons military jacket.

Photos are from Just Cavalli, Gianfranco Ferrè and Dolce & Gabbana.

Chloe Sevigny?

I see Chloe Sevigny ranking high on best dressed celebrity lists all the time, but I seldom see why. She hits the target once in a while, but in my opinion she misses even more. Her weird taste in accessories, her just-got-out-of-bed hair and those unflattering choises of garments. I’ll give her credit for being original; perhaps that’s the most important thing. And maybe I’m being unfair; but are these her best moments?

Stella McCartney for H&M

As fall is closing up, it’s also time to start waiting for Stella McCartney’s line for H&M which will be in stores around the world in November. We can only imagine how it will look like, but in McCartney we trust. This is an excellent way for all poor students like myself to get some designer ware for the wardrobe. Make sure to put some money in a jar already so there’s no missing out on this.

To warm up, I’ll leave you with some photos of her fall line. It looks like we can expect lots of knits, blacks, greys and houndstooth.
